Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life.
serendipity-22:

“Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around. You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are. The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever. Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again. Colours seem brighter and more brilliant. Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all. A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face. In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby. Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon. You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.” ― Bob Marley
What comes first, the COMPASS or the clock? Before one can truly manage time (the clock), it is important to know where you are going, what your priorities and goals are, in which direction you are headed (the compass). Where you are headed is more important than how fast you are going. Rather than always focusing on what’s urgent, learn to focus on what is really important.
When I was 11 years old, my family was going to be moving to a new state. I was scared at the thought of meeting new friends but It also left me sad that I would be leaving my Grandmother LuLu behind. It felt like it was the end of the world for me. When it was time to say goodbye I was sobbing uncontrollably, my Grandmother with her gentle style and grace started to tell me a sweet story about a CATERPILLAR who thought it was the end of the world but then it turned into a beautiful BUTTERFLY. She then gave me a special gift that my Grandfather Harry bestowed upon her when he left for the war. It was a key, a JOURNEY KEY. It was old, ugly and tarnished and when I asked what it went to, she didn’t know, but she told me that it was special because it had been on so many wonderful journey’s. For years that key had helped my Grandmother get through tremendous loss, but it also saw her through happy times such as adopting my mother. Just before I was born it helped her get through my Grandfathers passing. She told me how this key would help me through my next journey as it did for her and my Grandfather. I had no idea the amount of power that key would hold. My life turned out to be filled with so many journeys, heartbreaking ones, happy ones and many that were just plain rough. My Grandmother LuLu is now on her next journey in heaven (one of the Journeys my key has gotten me through)…Oh the stories my key could tell. Eventually I stamped “Embrace” on my key, to remind myself that whatever challenge life throws my way, I should just embrace the journey. Throughout the years I have passed my key on to a few friends to help them through a few life challenging events of their own. Thankfully my key made it back to me so that I could pass it on to my own children. This month I passed my key on to my daughter who is starting high school this coming fall. I was pleased to gift it to her and offer some comforting support that she can carry with her on her new journey. She was thrilled to be given something that had so much history as well as sentimental value. Realizing the power that this key had, I wanted to share it with other friends and family so eventually I started collecting old keys and started making Journey keys as gifts. I always wonder about the journeys that each key had been on before it came to me. Was it magical? Did it open something special? Did it unlock a treasure or a secret garden? I am sure that each key has many stories of its own to tell, that’s what makes it that much more extraordinary. Whether it’s a gift for somebody else or for yourself, whether someone’s going through an illness or about to embark on an adventure, your unique Key is sure to bring inspiration during the journey ahead. If someone else needs it more than yourself , please pass it on, let the journey continue. Each necklace comes with a unique one of kind vintage key (they are cleaned and polished but still quite old) colors and shapes may vary. Each necklace comes on a 27in ball chain(colors may vary but I try to match key to chain) with a small butterfly charm representative of the caterpillar story as told to me by my grandmother. Each Journey key necklace comes packaged with a cute yet simple paper gift tote.
A great gift idea for him. A Journey Key (keychain)
